What Is Ali GIO Healing?

The writer coined the term Ali GIO Healing for a way of healing which integrates the philosophy and science of holism in healing with focus on observable, measurable, and quantifiable body energetics of health and healing. Specifically, quantifiable studies of body energetics in GIO Healing refers to precise and accurate measurements of functionalities of molecular biology of oxygen, insulin homeostasis, and gut ecology and gut microbiome (flora of the mouth, stomach, small intestine, colon, and genital and urinary systems. yall pa systems of the body iwith able and quantifiable body energy energetic defined by scientific methods, i.e., using accurate and precise laboratory tests performed at the time of initial clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. The laboratory tests are repeated at suitable intervals for objective and precise measurements of the results obtained with the specific treatment regimen.

Ali GIO Healing is directed to the health/dis-ease/disease continuum with a sharp focus on the following  three fields of body energetics:

      1. Gut ecology and gut microbiome Dynamics

      2. Insulin homeostasis, and

      3. Molecular biology of oxygen

Punjabi Word GIO

GIO,  a word of my mother’s tongue, Punjabi, stands for an extended purposeful life of spiritual awareness and compassion. More often than mothers, GIO is used for grandmothers. My mom passed on in my early early boyhood and so I do not recall her using this word for me. I do clearly recall my grandmother using GIO frequently when wishing me good health and a long purposeful life. Similarly, fathers in Punjab province of Pakistan do not use the word as frequently as grandfathers do. As I write this, I wonder if such a distinction related to the gender exists in any other language. Or, whether it might represent some dimension of linguistic “trans-generationness.”

In the present context of teaching a course on the philosophy and science of holism in health and healing, I introduce GIO in English language for ease of expression and specifically for providing a short pneumonic for the following:

  • G for Gut

  • I for Insulin

  • O for Oxygen.

It has not escaped my notice that GIO is a small word that is easy on the tongue and most people like the idea of familiarity with some words of foreign languages. Most importantly. GIO stood out in my search for a word that would succinctly bring together the three subjects of central importance for me in this course: (1) Gut ecology and gut microbiome; (2) insulin homeostasis and insulin siganaling; and (3) molecular biology of oxygen.

Living Beyond Disease,

Not Owning Disease.

Not uncommonly I see individuals who seem to stop living after a disease is diagnosed. They become so preoccupied by the fear created by the disease they cease to live their lives as they did before.

Beginning With God’s Name

I coined the term “Ali GIO Healing” for a day-to-day simple practical state of spiritual philosophy of life and healing. The two words of GIO and Healing came together after years of searching for a simple small word that would merge together everything of enduring value which I my truest teachers, my patients, taught me in 61-years of my medical studies. Some days after I chose the two words (GIO and healing) for the title of this no-cost public service course on health and healing, I recognized with a sense of gratitude that I had inadvertently begun with God’s name.

My Truest Teachers

have been my patients, my friends on my autopsy table, my microscopes, my laboratory technology, my curiosity, and a very precious gift of listening to my inner voices from my father. My mom passed on when I was a little boy and my only image of her is her face surrounded by flowers in her death bed. Whatever I know of her derives from her precious gift to me of imagination.

Punjabi Word GIO

In this brief presentation, for ease of expression, The word GIO is introduced as a short pneumonic for the following:

  • G for Gut

  • I for Insulin

  • O for Oxygen.

GIO is a word in my mother tongue, Punjabi. She probably did speak the word GIO to me, perhaps several times, but I do not recall any words she would or might have spoken to me. All I now know directly about her is the most beautiful face in the only photograph of her which I ever saw and now have a copy of.

The word GIO was spoke to me frequently by my mom’s mom. She did that commonly for all my siblings. As I write this, I realize that GIO is word mostly used by grandmothers, not mothers, I heard and continue to hear the word commonly from grandfathers, seldom, if ever, from the lips of fathers. Interesting, how simple things like this rise rise in one’s consciousness when one is plumbing it, but not in days fleeting past our consciousness. But, might there be any consideration of significance here? Might it lay bare for us some  dimension of human “trans-generation-ness” here? Or more germane, might it reflect a deeper human need for things spiritual for being authentic humans as we age. Might it be inviting us to take peep through George Bernard Shah’s window of “Youth is wasted on the young”?

Fear-free – Spychologically, Biologically, or Spirituallying

In this brief presentation, for ease of expression, The word GIO is introduced as a short pneumonic for the following:

  • G for Gut
  • I for Insulin
  • O for Oxygen.

Uneven Playing Fields of Medicine

Playing fields of medicine worldwide are not level playing fields. In dealing with medial systems, persons needing medical treatment are always at a disadvantage compared with those who administer treatment. This sad state of affairs is most pronounced in the United States of America, less so in most other countries of the world.

Most regrettably, medical professionals contribute most to the unevenness of medical playing fields: Lack of knowledge and fear. Medical profession has a very long history on needlessly complicating simply notions of diseases arising from: (1) food; (2) environment; and (3) stress.

Medical entities do not profit from health. They make their money from diseases. It is easy to understand that the more the diseases they invent, the larger the profits. This is easy to understand. What is not fully appreciated the incremental fear factor that comes with growing plethoras of disease names.

In my book, The Butterfly and Life Span Nutrition (1992), I introduced the term N2D2 Medicine which stands for:

                                 First ND:       Name the Disease

                                 Second ND:  Name the Drug

N2D2:            Name the Disease, Name the Drug

Two elements of Uneven Playing Fields

Two elements stand out in making medical playing fields uneven for those receiving treatment: lack of knowledge and fear.

The writer coined the term GIO Healing for quantifiable body energetics of health and healing. Specifically, quantifiable body energy dynamics in GIO Healing refers to measurable and quantifiable body energy energetic defined by scientific methods, i.e., using accurate and precise laboratory tests performed at the time of initial clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
