I highly recommend egg omelets to my patients for reversing diabetes. People often express surprise at how repetitively I suggest to them that they should consider my omelet recipes as an important part of their program to reversing diabetes.
There is a wonderful movie I saw in January 2014. A Japanese movie “Like Father, Like Son.” The reason that I bring up this movie in this discussion is that a one place in the movie, the husband, a successful businessman, he comes home unexpectedly and his wife quickly make a meal for him. And he says, please put an egg in my noodles. She says, “oh no, you cannot have eggs because your cholesterol is high and your doctor says you shouldn’t have cholesterol.” I started thinking about this. Are the Japanese film makers so gullible that they are going to ignore the cumulative wisdom of centuries of their ancestors and just accept this American dogma? That eggs are bad? So I say that if you don’t like eggs and you want to reverse your diabetes, please take eggs as your diabetes pills.
Amazingly a Japanese study came out in late 2014 that said they could find no association with higher cholesterol, egg consumption with threat of diabetes, but in their limited study they found that Japanese women who ate eggs seemed to have lower cholesterol and reduced diabetes risk! A patient told me recently, “But I don’t like eggs, I don’t eat eggs.”
And I found myself saying “If you don’t eat eggs because you do not like them, then please take eggs as your diabetes pills.”
If you don’t eat eggs in your attempt to reverse diabetes then I am going to suggest, please take your eggs as pills. I think that the main reason that people are so hesitant to accept my advise is the pernicious propaganda against eggs as a cause of cholesterol by American cardiologists for the last 50 years. It is false, it is blatantly false.
Eggs prevent heart disease. If you truly understand the physiology and the biology of cholesterol you will find that healthy cholesterol prevents heart attacks and strokes. But I emphasize with people who tell me, aren’t eggs unhealthy foods?
The recipes listed on this page are designed first and foremost to prevent diabetes, excess weight gain, insulin toxicity. My second objective is to prepare my omelets in a very time efficient way. I really do not like to spend too much time in the kitchen and my criteria is that my wife should say that these omelets are delicious.
Omelettes For Weight Loss and Diabetes Prevention
Dr. Ali’s Flax and Chia Seeds Omelete
I offer this and my other Insulin-Smart-Recipes to be considered as options in my Insulin-Wise-Eating guidelines for losing weight, preventing and reversing diabetes, and controlling chronic inflammatory, immune, and degenerative disorders. Please follow Dr. Ali’s Start-Low and Build Slow Principle given below.
Ingredients per Serving
1. Eggs Two large
2. Flaxseed One tablespoon ground flaxseed
3. Chia seeds One tablespoon
4. Cayenne powder Sprinkle to taste
5. Butter One teaspoon
1. Use an egg-beater or a spoon to mix the ingredients
2. Put butter on a heated pan
3. Pour the egg mix in the pan
4. Wait until the underside of the egg is slightly browned
5. Turn the egg over to brown the other side
Optional-Sautéed Onions and Tomatoes
1. Add a small amount of onions or tomatoes or both and brown them slightly before pouring the egg mixture into the pan
Dr. Ali’s Ginger-Walnut Omelete

Ingredients per Serving
1. Eggs Two large
2. Fresh Ginger Root 1.5 inch long, 1 inch wide
3. Walnuts One, shelled
4. Cayenne powder One-fourth teaspoon (may add to taste)
6. Butter One teaspoon
1. Grate ginger
2. Slice into slivers shelled walnut
3. Beat eggs, slivered walnut
4. Sprinkle crushed cayenne to taste
5. Spread butter on a heated pan, add grated ginger and sautee it
6. Pour the egg mix in the pan
7. Wait until the underside of the egg is slightly browned
8. Turn the egg over to brown the other side
Enjoy, then adjust amounts of ingredients to personalize your omelettes

Dr. Ali’s Start-Low-Build-Slow Principle
In all guidelines for natural remedies for preserving health and reversing chronic diseases, I strongly advise readers to follow my Start-Low-Build-Slow Principle. Simply stated, this principle requires that an individual in trying natural remedies be cautious and closely observe how the body responds to natural remedies, beginning with small amounts or portions of remedies (as low as one-tenth the value on the first day, and doubling them every day until the recommended dose is reached. If any negative senses are experienced, the item should be discontinued or taken in smaller amounts for longer periods of time to increase tolerance. It is important that a doctor be consulted to rule out the presence of serious coexisting or underlying conditions.
